New Makro Cornubia and Cornubia Ridge Logistics Park

March 2019 will see the opening of the highly anticipated new Makro store in Cornubia Ridge, a project undertaken by joint venture partners M&F Giuricich and Fortress RIET Limited. The new Makro built at a cost of R325 million and consisting of 18,959m2 is a flagship store for the group and further enhances the retail node of the Umhlanga area in Kwazulu Natal.

Cornubia Ridge Logistics Park makes up the balance of the 28 Hectare development by M&F Giuricich and Fortress REIT. With an investment of over R1billion into the area, this goes to further underline the confidence in the greater Durban area as an important logistics hub servicing the Southern African region. 

The development consists of a further two massive 90,000m2 platforms with great exposure onto the N2 Freeway. Two warehouse developments are currently planned for the sites, the first one of 23,293m2 and the second of 18,093m2. The key features of the logistics warehouses will include:

  • 12 ton point load floor loading with FM2 jointless floors
  • Eave Height of 15m
  • Sprinkler systems
  • Dock Loading Facilities
  • Large 40m wide hardstands
  • Self contained access control
  • Excellent access to the N2 Freeway.

There is also an opportunity for a smaller 5,000m2 warehouse to be developed for warehousing and logistics.

Cornubia Ridge Logistics Park is conveniently located close to the King Shaka International Airport and adjacent to the recently opened Gateway link over the N2, connecting the park to the Umhlanga Ridge area and the new flyover access to the N2 Freeway.
